Like every fall, the best of the world jazz scene finally meets at the International Jazz Festival in Madrid. Popularly known as JAZZMADRID. Organized with the aim of enriching and spreading the jazz culture. Famous artists and new talents of the genre will make up the program, which will take place in various stages of the city. In addition to a hundred performances, there will also be room for parallel activities related to jazz such as debates, films and exhibitions by specialists in cultural life and jazz criticism in Spain. Furthermore it’s an invitation to listen and enjoy jazz music where melodies from different styles and cultures will come together in a festival where new talents will also dazzle.
More than 31,000 spectators enjoyed a hundred performances and activities in the last edition of International Jazz Festival, which had the Conde Duque and the Fernán Gómez Cultural Center as the focal points. These centers will repeat as main venues this year as well. One of the novelties was the inclusion of blues in its broadest spectrum, from the traditional style of Corey Harris to the more electric and cosmopolitan Bronx guitarist Popa Chubby. Most noteworthy this festival had great stars of the jazz scene such as Hiromi Uehara, Gregory Porter, Robin McKelle, Niño Josele and Javier Colina. Including many others, which this year will be joined by great artists like Dee Dee Bridgewater, Daymé Arocena, Becca Stevens, Steve Coleman, Jean Luc Ponty, Ron Carter, Sheila Jordan, Jonah Smith & David Soler and Lila Downs.
