Deborah Feingold: Musical Portraits

20 of the best portraits by Deborah Feingold makes up the exhibition Musical Portraits. The photographer was able to capture the musical talent within her portraits through their gestures, expressions, their postures or by the spaces around them.

It was totally freestyle, and I was never happier. Living with jazz musicians, I learned to improvise. That changed my life. It was risky and it was exciting at the same time commented Deborah Feingold!

Deborah Feingold is an American portraitist pioneer of musicality in portraiture. Always close to the world of music, each one of her images has a careful construction based on rhythm and melody turned to color, which has managed to tame wild beasts of the likes of Keith Richards or Tom Wolf, as well as create intimate dialogues with less hedonistic characters such as Brian Eno or Sinead O’Connor. Her indisputable trajectory makes it today, with the passage of time, one of the most important portraitists of pop culture since the end of the 70s.
