If you’re a beer connoisseur, and looking to support a local and all-natural brewery here in Madrid, we’ve got a suggestion! Check out Cervezas la Virgen out in Las Rozas! We visited their brand new factory and left full, and oh so happy!
Mad4Madrid had the pleasure of visiting the new and improved Cervezas La Virgen in Las Rozas, and we’re so impressed! The building is large, full of light and open! The beer is made on the premises; however, there is also a fantastic restaurant on site where you can order some delicious, flame-grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with some of the best chips we’ve ever tasted!
There are 6 different varieties of beer that they produce at Cervezas la Virgen: the Madrid Lager, Jamonera, Madrid 360, Negra, Veraniega and the Castañas. The beer that they produce here are fresh, unfiltered and un-pasteurized which makes the taste that much stronger, natural and distinctive. Our favorite was the Jamonera, which you can probably tell by its name, would go best with a delicious slice of Spanish jamón. The classic and quintessential Madrid Lager is fermented at a low temperature and matures for 45 days at 0 degrees. It’s golden color and fluffy white foam at the top screams: caña. Even though Spring is on the horizon, we’re still in the heart of a chilly Madrid winter. We don’t know about you, but winter makes us want to indulge in well, beer! The Castañas brew is made with hand-roasted chestnuts! If that doesn’t scream winter in Madrid, we don’t what does!
What do you do when you get hungry at Cervzas la Virgen? Burgers of course! The food is spectacular! We recommend the chips and the truffle sauce! The other sauce options include chipotle and pesto. There are tours trough the factory as well for 9€ (and it comes with a beer), if you want to walk off those delectable flame-brolied hotdogs and burgers! You can reserve your tours on the Cervezas la Virgen website. We can’t wait to go back to Cervezas la Virgen especially in the summer because they have a terrace area, and the beer is always cold!
