On the same street that you can find the Rastro every Sunday, you can also find this gem! The ham is cut by knife when you ask, and it has a strong and potent flavor. This is a place dedicated to the Iberian products. They have gluten-free plan and you can choose between ham, Iberian ham and Iberian Bellota from lowest to highest quality–of acorn, and in the case of the latter you can choose if you want large sandwich or medium (20 cm and 3.5 € if you cut ham with a machine). If you want to cut it with a knife, the price goes up a little bit. The taste is delicious, intense and very juicy. Price: from 3.5 €.

Gran Via 22 is a spot that seems a franchise and we think it is, but that’s the way things go. Regardless, their ham sandwiches are very good, juicy and doused virgin olive oil. The size is normal and adjusted price and it shows in the quality of the ham, you will not be disappointed. Price: 3.9 € sandwich; montadito 2.5 €; pulga 1.3 €.

Horno de la Almudena

In Chueca, right behind Gran Vía, you will find what in Madrid called “montadito”, ie, a small but hearty sandwich full of ham.
